PTSCO Minutes 

Wednesday May 7, 2025, 5:30-6:30 pm.

Called to order at 5:35pm

Welcome and Introductions:  

• Old Business/Past Events
  • Website Migration- Cristina Garcia Glover
    • Updates are going great. Agenda and minutes will be hosted on new site
  • Teacher Appreciation Breakfast-Pam Fitzgibbons
    • Thank you to everyone who donated goods, money, flowers, and your time
    • It would be nice to have a better drop-off for donations
    • We needed a bigger coffee urn
      • Might price out a large urn and a large coffee maker that will be owned by PTSCO
      • We have no need for plates, forks, spoons, napkins, and cups for 2-3 years (we have an overflow)
• New Business/Upcoming Events
  • Treasurer Report: Pam Fitzgibbons
    • No new updates since last meeting 
• Class of 2025 (Senior) Scholarship Update- Danielle Grzymala
  • Instructions were sent out in October with due date for April 2. There were no applicants. Turns out it never got sent out to students. 
  • Resent on Friday, May 4th with new due date May 16th
• Class of 2029 (8th Grade)- Tava Shanchuk
  • 8th grade PTSCO Award
    • Sent out criteria for 8th grade award. Guidance has not given us those two names. The awards will be given to the students on Moving Up day
  • Pathfinder Memorial Day Weekend
    • Chaperones are going through the process of getting fingerprinting
      • Mrs. Hannah got the cost issue taken care of (parents don’t have to pay to have the fingerprinting done for Pathfinder). The money is coming from school accounts. 
      • There are eighteen parent chaperones 
      • Question- will BPS take fingerprinting from the state or a federal agency?
        • Mrs. Hannah- we will have to check on that 
    • This is the largest groups of CHS kids going to Pathfinder to date
  • 5-8 middle school dance
    • 234 tickets sold so far. That’s roughly 30 more tickets sold than last year
    • Will there be any faculty or staff chaperones?
      • Mrs. Hannah- will follow up tomorrow
    • There are ten parent chaperones 
  • Field Days
    • Early June, date TBA
    • Mrs. Hannah- we have some water, juice, and cookie trays for 8th grade field days 
  • Moving Up Day
    • No updates
  • Tava will be shifting her energy to the senior class of 2026 next year
• 2025-2026  Meeting Dates
  • Currently we are the first Wednesday of the month, alternating online and in-person
    • There was one conflict with the Foundation this year
    • Foundation meetings will be on the second Wednesday each month
  • Decided: we will keep the format for next year
• 2025-2026 School Year planning – all events will need chairperson(s)
  • Sept
    • Teacher Appreciation (Staff only Day- Breakfast in the Atrium)
    • Mid Sept- Family Welcome back Night- Flyer will go out in packet over summer
  • October Haunted Lockers/ Ice Cream Social
    • Will probably be the week before Halloween
  • November: Volunteer Coordinator for Hilltop Homecoming Decorating & Icecream

  • Cristina and Danielle will present at both days
    • Perhaps incentivize – give email and enter for a CHS sweatshirt 
  • Tava began working on a booklet for new parent reps. Also started a database of DJs, vendors, venues
    • This will be finished by the end of the year
    • Cristina suggests we can host it all on the PTSCO website

• Update from Administration – Dr. Kresse/Ms. Hannah
  • AP & IB testing currently
  • Friday- special secret event for Seniors
  • Regents and Assessments are wrapping up
  • The Blue Ribbon drone photo was successful and proofs look great
    • They are being printed by Minute Print and should be available for students next week 
  • Letters going out to Juniors for senior pics: Friday May 23rd this year.
    • There will be more dates in the summer and a couple added for the fall
• SBMT-
  • The last meeting was Thursday, April 24 2025
    • Fosdick Park now belongs to BPS
    • Hilltop Notes are being built out
    • Slate roof repairs
    • AP art/design class is full. Giving precedence to seniors
    • May 15th AP African Am course info sesh
• Wellness
  • Wellness is still staggering meeting dates
  • Did mailbox treats for teachers
  • Spirit week on Mental Health week
    • Activities in lunch

  • Fruitbelt Coalition had a hand in helping CHS keep the African American studies
    • Working on neighborhood parking 
• Pelion Garden – Cassandra Seawell
  • Like any Pelion Garden posts you see on social media. The “like” helps to boost Pelion’s engagement on socials
    • Garden Club is starting up again. Looking for parent volunteers.
