Middle School Soccer

Hello Parents/Guardians!

Thank you for your child’s interest in playing middle school soccer for City Honors!  We are excited to offer this program for our students in grades 5-8.  We are 100% parent volunteer run, and coordinate with other middle schools in the area to host fun, semi-competitive games.  Our school teams will focus heavily on practice and scrimmages as we were only able to schedule a few games this fall with other schools.  Middle School soccer is not affiliated with Section VI sports or the school district, but rather operates as a “club team”.  The goal is to provide a fun environment for students to get exercise, learn the game and hopefully develop an interest to try out for our JV and Varsity teams.

For Grades 5&6:

Coach: TBD

If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know.

For Grades 7&8:

Coaches: Andre Gandour and Colleen Meszaros

Practice will be at Fosdick Field.  On practice days, the coaches will meet students in the atrium around 3:15 to walk them across the street to the field.  Practices will go to 5:00 p.m. and students can be picked up right at the field.

Home games will be played at Rumsey Field located in Delaware Park.  24 Hour Rule – if your child cannot attend a game – no problem.  We just ask that you notify a coach via text 24 hours in advance so we can adjust line-ups, call up subs etc.

In order to participate, all students must register.  There is also a $50 fee to cover the cost of insurance, referees and equipment.  You can pay by cash or Venmo: Rebecca-Gandour is the handle.

We will distribute jerseys to players at practice.  These are only needed for games.  All jerseys must be returned at the end of the season.  Coaches will collect them at the end of the last game.

Any updates to the practice or game schedules will be communicated via email.

For games:

Cleats are not required, but recommended

Shinguards are required

Black soccer socks and blacks shorts are recommended

Please bring a water bottle

For games in October, a sweatshirt may be ideal for under the jersey

Transportation for Games:

We will not have access to buses.  Each family is responsible for transportation to/from games.  If parents volunteer to help with carpooling, that would be much appreciated.

Some games will be Co-ed, some may be boys or girls only.  It will be up to the coaches to determine rosters for each game.

Conduct during games:

Please remember, this is recreational.  Players and spectators will be expected to be courteous to each other, opposing teams, coaches and referees.  If a coach determines that a player or spectator is unruly, that person will be asked to leave the field immediately.  No Exceptions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
